About
Gero Onsen is one of Japan's three most celebrated hot springs (alongside Kusatsu and Arima). The alkaline water is famously smooth — locals call it 'beauty water.' The riverside rotenburo and foot baths are free.
Crowd Avoidance
Visit between 2-4pm when most guests are sightseeing, or after 9pm for a quiet soak. Avoid weekends and holiday periods.
