About

Nezu Shrine is one of Tokyo's oldest shrines, famous for its Azalea Festival in April-May when 3,000 bushes of 100 varieties bloom on the hillside. The vermillion torii gate tunnel rivals Fushimi Inari on a smaller scale.

Crowd Avoidance

Visit early morning at opening time or late afternoon to avoid tour groups. Weekdays are much quieter than weekends.
