About

Sumiyoshi Taisha is one of Japan's oldest and most important Shinto shrines, predating the influence of Chinese architecture. The distinctive Sumiyoshi-zukuri style and the iconic arched Taikobashi bridge are unique to this shrine.

Crowd Avoidance

Visit early morning at opening time or late afternoon to avoid tour groups. Weekdays are much quieter than weekends.
