About

The Great Buddha Hall (Daibutsuden) houses a 15-meter bronze Buddha cast in 752 AD. The hall itself is the world's largest wooden structure. The scale is awe-inspiring — the Buddha's face alone is over 5 meters long.

Crowd Avoidance

Visit at opening (7:30am April-October, 8am November-March) before school groups arrive. The approach path is less crowded from the east side.
