Insider Tip
Visit the museum first (allow 90 minutes), then walk through the park. The A-Bomb Dome is most powerful at dusk when it is illuminated. The park is free and open 24 hours.
JEMS Tip
We provide historical context before your visit and recommend the optimal route through the park and museum. We also arrange for a hibakusha (survivor) testimony session when available.
About
The Peace Memorial Park is a solemn and deeply moving tribute to the victims of the atomic bombing on August 6, 1945. The park includes the iconic A-Bomb Dome (a UNESCO World Heritage site), the Peace Memorial Museum, the Cenotaph, and the Children's Peace Monument.
Crowd Avoidance
Start early morning for the best experience and fewer people. Autumn foliage and cherry blossom seasons are the most crowded periods.
Getting There
Hiroshima Station (Shinkansen) — tram line 2 or 6 to Genbaku-Dome-mae stop (20 min).
