Insider Tip
The ropeway to the hilltop offers stunning views of the Seto Inland Sea. Cat Alley (Neko no Hosomichi) is a narrow path decorated with cat art and inhabited by friendly strays.
JEMS Tip
We design a half-day walking route through the best temples and viewpoints, and can arrange Shimanami Kaido bike rental for a cycling extension.
About
Onomichi is a charming hillside port town on the Seto Inland Sea. The Temple Walk connects 25 temples along the hillside, passing through narrow lanes, stone steps, and the famous Cat Alley. It is also the starting point of the Shimanami Kaido cycling route.
Crowd Avoidance
Visit early morning at opening time or late afternoon to avoid tour groups. Weekdays are much quieter than weekends.
