Insider Tip
Hike Kurama to Kibune (not reverse) — it's mostly downhill this direction. In summer, book kawadoko dining over the river.
JEMS Tip
We plan the hike direction (Kurama→Kibune recommended), book a kawadoko lunch in summer, and arrange return transport.
About
This popular hiking trail connects Kurama Temple to Kibune Shrine through a forested mountain pass. Kurama is famous for its fire festival, Kibune for its riverside dining (kawadoko) in summer.
Crowd Avoidance
Start early morning for the best experience and fewer people. Autumn foliage and cherry blossom seasons are the most crowded periods.
Getting There
Kurama Station (Eizan Railway from Demachiyanagi, 30 min).
